Spaving.

Spending money while thinking you’re actually saving money.

For example, a 50% discount on a $200 item.

You never had the intention of buying that item in the first place, but once you see that it’s on sale, you think you should buy it because it’s such a great deal and you’d be saving a lot of money. Also in case there’s some future event which may require you to utilize that item.

“Oh damn, I just saved $100!”

No, you just spent a $100 on an item that you had no intention of getting in the first place.
