• So in case any of you have been wondering where I’ve been this week, I was away at Science Camp!
Some of you guys probably went to one during 5th or 6th grade but unfortunately for me, I decided not to go at that time. After hearing about it from all my friends though, I instantly regretted that I didn’t go. To make up for that, I decided to volunteer as a cabin leader in order to experience this place for myself and to get to meet and know some of the kids.
After that one week there, I must say that it was definitely an amazing and worthwhile experience. This will be one week that I’ll never forget. The kids especially. Some of them hold a very special place in my heart and I’m extremely glad that I met them.
Bonding with your kids and the other cabin leaders, it’s an opportunity to learn more about other people outside of an academic environment. But you don’t just learn about other people either, you also learn about yourself. Sometimes you’ll meet some kids who will change your perspective on things or help you realize and understand some things about yourself you never knew.
My cabin leader counselor told us that by the end of the week, some of us will come out of camp as a different person. I didn’t really think much of it at first, but now that the week is over, I completely agree with what he said. On top of learning about nature and science, this place is also where people learn about life.
If you’re able to and up for it, I suggest you guys sign up to volunteer as cabin leaders! I guarantee you, you will not regret coming here. I, for one, definitely can’t wait to sign up as a cabin leader again.
